Founded in 1980
The Garlic Company
The Garlic Company started in 1980 when Joe Lane and John Layous became partners and opened a garlic packing shed in Gonzales, CA.
Fast forward to today, The Garlic Company is the industry-leading supplier of fresh California peeled garlic in the United States.
Throughout the years, we have remained grounded in our mission to offer consistent quality products and ensure customer satisfaction.
Over 45 Years of Growing Garlic

1988
With the newly created concept of value added garlic, The Garlic Company is at the forefront of beginning to offer peeled garlic to the foodservice industry.
1998
In order to further secure year round supply for its customer base, The Garlic Company builds an on site, controlled atmosphere cold storage.
2000
The Garlic Company invests in a garlic puree manufacturing line in order to make further use of all forms of the garlic raw material and limiting waste.
2007
The Garlic Company becomes fully vertically integrated by planting its own garlic seed program in the Pacific Northwest.
2011
The Garlic Company completes a 100% overhaul on its cracking and peeling lines, allowing the ability to quadruple throughputs.
2022
The Garlic Company invests in a 69 acre property with a cold storage facilty, located directly north of the existing plant. The new facility assures continued control of raw material storage but also allows the opportunity for further growth.
2023
The Garlic Company revamps our brand identity with a new logo and updated packaging which presents a refreshed, updated appearance to the marketplace.
2024
Today, The Garlic Company remains focused on growing and producing consistent quality garlic products. The founding partners continue to oversee the overall operation while they are now joined by their adult children, the second generation.
